Veterans Trauma Court - The VTC program provides jail diversion services to vets with trauma spectrum disorders related to military service who have been charged with a lower level felony. With the permission of the 4th Judicial District District Attorney’s Office, eligible vets are moved from the traditional courtroom system into the VTC where they agree to actively engage in treatment and counseling and make regular court appearances, and they are carefully supervised. Although you must plead guilty and will be sentenced accordingly, the program offers you a chance to avoid jail or prison and will help you access mental health treatment, alcohol and/or substance abuse treatment, and educational, housing and employment assistance. If a deferred sentence is granted, upon successful completion of the program your guilty plea will be withdrawn and the charges against you dismissed. For more info, call Rich at AspenPointe, 377-0474, or Carrie, VTC Program manager, 637-8957.
