The Journey- La Trice B.

I'm a Colorado Springs native, born into a military family. I began drinking at the age of 33 after a very bad divorce. I joined the U.S. Army at the age of 35. I drank for 11 years and in that time, I became a functioning alcoholic. When I fell to my bottom and I was ready to give up on life, I went to the V.A and asked for help. On April 26, 2017, I was accepted into the S.A.T.P. program and I was also accepted into The Crawford House. Because of my heavy drinking in those last days, I had to go to detox at Cedar Springs. May 1, 2017 was my first day at The Crawford House.

May 2, 2017 was my first day at S.A.T.P. I didn't know what to expected from either program, I just wanted help with my drinking problem. I received guidance and tools to help me to remain sober from the S.A.T.P. program. From the Crawford House, I received, structure, acceptance, compassion, understanding, and comradery. God showed me so much favor. After 30 days, I successfully completed the S.A.T.P. program. I was able to transition into the homeless program at The Crawford House. Shortly, after graduating, I was offered a house manager position at The Crawford House. On April 26, 2018, my co-workers presented me with my I-year sobriety coin. On May 1, 2018, I celebrate 1 year of being part of The Crawford House. God has blessed me so much. My journey is not over, it is continuous, and I look forward to what God has in store for me. In Jesus Name, AMEN!
